Shenseea calls on Coi Leray as she treks through her Jamaican roots in her visual for her song, “Flava.” The video finds the pair, donning slinky bikinis, as they visit various spots over the Caribbean island. The two make it clear they are ready for the summer and to flaunt their figures. Released on Friday (May 24), the track is featured on the singer’s highly anticipated sophomore album, Never Gets Late Here. The project offers a fusion of rhythms and sounds, all while showcasing her signature style.
“You see me look good in my tight likkle dress/ Bruck it up a me, make the man dem obsessed, “Shenseea begins. “Put in the work when we dance and we sweat/Dangerous when the pum-pum get wet.” She continues in the chorus: “The boys them all want me, want me/Them gyal a get salty, salty (Salty)/When me talkin’ spicy, spicy/It make you want bite me, bite me (Bite me)/You just want the flava, flava.”
Shenessa Says ‘Never Gets Late Here’ Allows Her ‘Authenticity’ To Shine Through
Later, Coi takes the track up a notch, offering a few bars about special someone. “Come on, baby, what you tryna do?/I’m tryna pull up on you like a drive-thru,” Coi raps. “I wanna know if we rockin’, would you keep it cool?
Take trips and private dinner just for us two.” Shenseea said in a comment earlier this month that while Never Gets Late Here appeals to many cultures, it still maintains her “Jamaican authenticity.”
“This album was curated with timeless records that appeal to many cultures. Still maintaining my Jamaican authenticity, I infused my affinity for other genres such as pop and R&B. My fans will find summer anthems and songs to bring them motivation, joy, and inspiration. I’m excited to share this with the world!” she said. Aside from Leray, the 14-track project features appearances from Wizkid, Coi Leray, Anitta, and Masicka.
