Snoop Dogg will carry the Olympic torch on its final journey across France. The American rapper is one of the last torchbearers for the Olympic flame before Friday’s opening ceremony in Paris. He will carry the torch through Saint-Denis, home to the Stade de France Olympic stadium. Snoop will be joined by French rapper MC Solaar, actress Laetitia Casta, and retired Ukrainian pole vaulter Sergey Bubka.
Snoop shared his excitement on Instagram with a photo of himself in front of the Hôtel de Ville in Paris, captioned: “U ready? Paris 2024 Olympics ya digg.” The torch has been touring France since May, carried by celebrities like Halle Berry and Formula One driver Charles Leclerc.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, which will host the 2028 Olympics, Snoop Dogg has a personal connection to the event. Earlier this year, it was announced that he would be an Olympics special correspondent for NBC. Snoop expressed his enthusiasm, saying, “I grew up watching the Olympics and am thrilled to see the incredible athletes bring their A-game to Paris. It’s a celebration of skill, dedication, and the pursuit of greatness… We’re going to have some amazing competitions and, of course, I will be bringing that Snoop style to the mix. It’s going to be the most epic Olympics ever, so stay tuned.”
The 2024 Olympic Games will begin on Friday and run until August 11th.
