Social media was buzzing on Wednesday (July 10) over the revelation that commanding iPhone’s Siri A.I. to play Drake’s “Certified Lover Boy” on Spotify will result in the streaming service playing Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” instead.
The confusion spread like wildfire across social media, causing many to attempt the theory and share mixed reactions. There is no confirmation that Apple or Spotify is involved in the song shuffle yet.
Released in 2021, Certified Lover Boy is Drake’s sixth studio album. The 21-song album included hit singles “Knife Talk,” “Girls Want Girls,” and “Way 2 Sexy.” It won Top Rap Album at the 2022 Billboard Music Awards and was certified 3x platinum.
“Not Like Us” by Kendrick Lamar topped the Billboard charts when it was released in May. This is Lamar’s last diss track for Drake after the feud started in April. The music video has accumulated over 44 million views in less than a week on YouTube.
During last month’s Ken & Friends: The Pop Out concert at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles, Kendrick performed “Not Like Us” six times. The DJ Mustard-produced track is eligible for a Grammy nomination.
As a result of the beef, trolls created a GoFundMe campaign to support Drake’s career. On May 7, GoFundMe has shut down hundreds of rap beef-related fake campaigns, ranging from commemorating Drake’s metaphorical burial to paying for Kendrick Lamar’s studio space. Among the fundraisers were “Support Kendrick Lamar’s Studio Time for the Ultimate Diss T,” “Join the Love Fund for Drake’s Send-Off,” and “RIP Drake.”
