T-Pain is giving back to “Wiscansin,” in a big way!
In a chat with Billboard, aired on Thursday (May 2), the “Buy U A Drank” crooner spilled the beans about his grand plans to establish a learning hub in the Badger State; an idea he’s been flirting around with since last year.
“I just really felt like I was Andre 3000 when I was recording that song,” he said at the 6:11 mark, referencing his hit single, “Can’t Believe It.” “That was my spirit animal that I had on me while I was recording that song.”
He added: “Again, that fostered the era of the ‘mansion in Wiscansin’ infamous rhyme. And since then, we’ve been really able to incorporate that into everything. […] All my tours that I go on now are Wisconsin based. We have a ‘Wiscansin University.’ All the merch is ‘Wiscansin’ based. We’re actually starting a school in Wisconsin. It’s a music school.”

In 2022, Wisconsin showed T-Pain some serious love during his Road To Wiscansin Tour. In return, instead of a regular ol’ concert, Teddy Pain threw festival-goers a whole festival, featuring not just himself, but Lil Jon, Juvenile, O.T. Genasis and more — all of which was broadcast live on Twitch.
Mid-performance, T-Pain received the ultimate surprise: a proclamation from state representative Kalan Haywood, declaring June 11 as “T-Pain Day.”
“The Mayor of Milwaukee, @cavalierformilwaukee has proclaimed June 11th as ‘T-Pain Day’ to be celebrated annually throughout the state,” the official Instagram page of the Wiscansin Fest wrote, celebrating the 39-year-old’s special honor. “State rep @kalanhaywoodwi surprised @tpain on stage at #WiscansinFest to present him with a proclamation from the state office.
“The proclamation recognizes ‘Wiscansin Fest’ as an annual event acknowledged by the state of Wisconsin. Thank you @cityofmilwaukee and the entire state of Wisconsin for this incredible honor.”
In a separate post, T-Pain can be seen having an emotional moment as he is presented with the framed proclamation.
