Social Media Calls Out The Grammys For Snubbing Summer Walker Again

Summer Walker has put out two albums, Over It and Still Over It, and neither of them have been recognized by the Recording Academy.

“[And] as for the Grammys, for a [second] time, the math is literally not mathing… I was [going to] post some numbers but it’s okay. At least the streets [f**k] with me. Ya’ll always pack out every show [and] support every time I drop, so thanks for the love I do receive,” the R&B singer posted on her Instagram Story.

On Tuesday (Nov. 15), the Recording Academy announced the nominations for the 2023 Grammy Awards. The 65th annual award show is set to air live on Sunday, Feb. 5, 2023 at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California.

Walker’s 2019 debut album Over it won best album at the 2020 Soul Train Music Awards and was the most streamed album by a female artist on Apple Music in 2020. It also features collaborations with Bryson Tiller, Usher, 6lack, PartyNextDoor, A Boogie wit da Hoodie and Jhené Aiko. Last year, she released her second album, Still Over It. It features Cardi B, JT from City Girls, SZA, Ari Lennox, Lil Durk, Pharrell Williams, Omarion, and Ciara. This album became Walker’s first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart. It was also the highest charting album from a female R&B artist since Beyoncé’s Lemonade and broke the record for most album streams in a single day by a female artist on Apple Music. It is safe to say that social media stands with Walker, as they showered her with support for being “snubbed” by the Recording Academy, yet again.

“They misspelled Summer Walker’s name all over these Grammy nominations,” Terrellgrice said on Twitter.

“I don’t want to hear any artist complaining about Grammy nominations unless their name is Summer Walker,” another Twitter user wrote.

“YOU’RE GOING TO [F**KING] NOMINATE CHRIS BROWN FOR A [F**KING] R&B GRAMMY BUT NOT SUMMER WALKER?” wrote Ghostinsza.

“Did Summer Walker not submit her album? Cause I’m confused why she not in the Grammy R&B nominations,” FiveTooNine_ asked.

“Summer walker was snubbed. ‘Unloyal’ should have gotten a Grammy nomination at the very least,” Twigsalterego penned.
