In two days, President-elect Donald Trump will officially become the President of the United States as the inauguration comes closer.

The President urged for a peaceful transition while also calling on the citizens of this country to be vigilant in pushing for change. First Lady Michelle Obama was disgusted by some of the words of Trump during the campaign while saying “when they go low, we go high.”

But what do the children really think about the election results? The question was asked during Obama’s final press conference, and his answer was everything you expected.

“They were disappointed,” he said. “They paid attention to what their mom said during the campaign and believed it because it’s consistent with what we’ve tried to teach them in our household, what I’ve tried to model as a father with their mom and what we’ve asked them to expect from future boyfriends or spouses.”

He then continued.

“They don’t mope,” he said. “What makes me proudest about them is that they also don’t get cynical. They have not assumed that, because their side didn’t win or because some of the values they care about don’t seem as though they were vindicated, that somehow automatically, America had somehow rejected them or rejected their values.”

As you can imagine before he gets back to the public eye, Obama has to check in with Michelle to see what’s next in his career.

“[I have to] make sure that my wife, with whom I will be celebrating a 25th anniversary this year, is willing to re-up and put up with me for a little bit longer.”
