As the Tory Lanez sentencing wrapped up last week, new information is coming out.
The Canadian rapper was sentenced to 10 years in prison for shooting Megan Thee Stallion in 2020. A major contributing factor to his sentencing was his mistreatment of Megan after the shooting.
According to Legal affairs journalist, Meghann Cuniff, who has been covering the case since it began, revealed that the judge emphasized the musician’s post-shooting conduct” and how it was a “major” factor when considering how long he would serve in jail,
“The idea that he would’ve gotten 10 years if he just kept quiet about the whole thing, I think that’s kind of out of the question. I’m sure he would’ve gotten a lesser sentence. The judge really sent the message that he thought the post-shooting conduct was a real issue.” The publication points out the judge felt Tory showed no remorse for his actions. He spoke out after the sentencing and said although he cares for Megan, he refuses to apologize. He also continues to claim he’s innocent. Megan on the other hand, wasn’t present for the sentencing, but in her victim impact statement, she said she suffered a lot of trauma after the shooting because of Tory. She also said she’ll “never be the same.” On Sunday (August 13), she performed at Outside Lands Festival, and addressed haters mad at HER, because of the amount of years Tory got after his shooting conviction. She said, “I just wanna say… F*ck all my haters!” Megan said on stage. “None of that sh*t you was doing or saying broke me.” She also thanked her fans her their loyal support in recent years.
