Tory Lanez’s request to be released on bail as he appeals his conviction was denied in criminal court in Los Angeles on Thursday (Sept. 14), over a month after he was sentenced to 10 years in prison for shooting Megan Thee Stallion.
“Tory Lanez is officially headed to prison. ‘The motion will be denied and proceedings concluded. Thank you,’ Judge [David] Herriford said. Lanez grinned at his supporters, including his father and friends from the Unite the People legal services group, before being led out,” Legal affairs journalist Meghann Cuniff reported on Twitter.
According to Rolling Stone, Judge Herriford denied the bail motion, noting the “violent felony” Lanez was convicted of, his “history of violating court orders,” namely the previously instituted protective order, and his deportation risk as he is not a United States citizen.
As previously reported by HOT 97, The “Say It” singer is currently appealing to overturn his conviction over the 2020 shooting. “Bail pending appeal is rare, but Lanez is asking Judge David Herriford to allow him to live with his son and new wife in a home he’ll rent from a guy who rents out “exotic” homes and cars. No mention of the rehab that was pushed at sentencing,” Cuniff wrote on the social media outlet before the hearing.
