Travis Scott expressed his frustration on LeBron James‘ show, The Shop, that he hasn’t won a Grammy despite being nominated ten times. However, he still hopes to win one someday, believing they hold value.
“A lot of my peers are like, ‘Ah, fuck that award.’ I fuck with it,” he said. “You play football to win the Super Bowl, you play basketball to win championships.”
“I don’t make music to win Grammys but it’s what that Grammy used to mean is what I always hold on to. Like, the idea of music […] That award, at one point, it’s held up to a higher stature.”
“And I still believe in it, in a sense. You know, it gets rough at times but fuck, what the fuck?”
The episode also featured Ice Spice, nominated for four Grammys this year, including Best New Artist. The two have agreed to collaborate. She promised to send Scott music after he left the show.
Scott suffered defeat at the Grammys in 2019 at the hands of Cardi B and Killer Mike this year. His frustration with the 2019 loss was displayed in his Netflix documentary, Look Mom, I Can Fly.
After Mike’s sweep, Scott expressed his disappointment with the Grammys during his performance, switching the verses to say, “They’ve slept on me 10 times!”
Scott’s latest album features Drake, Tezzo Touchdown, Playboi Carti, 21 Savage, Rob49, and Beyoncé. He was featured in the remix to Tyla’s new “Water” remix.
In recent news, Drake dissed Scott and other rappers on his latest track “Push Ups.” The 6God took on everyone as he fired shots at Kendrick Lamar, Rick Ross, Future, and The Weeknd.
