On Tuesday (Jan 23), the NBA annouced that Tristan Thompson will be suspended for 25 games without pay after violating the NBA’s anti-drug program.
CBS News reported that the Cleveland Cavaliers forward tested positive for the growth hormone stimulator Ibutamoren and muscle enhancer SARM LGD-4033. According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, those drugs, which are banned by the NBA, can be used to build lean muscle mass and bulk up body mass.
In a statement released on X, formerly known as Twitter, the Cavaliers expressed their disappointment but accepted the consequences. “The Cleveland Cavaliers fully support the NBA/NBAPA Anti-Drug Program, and we are disappointed in the recent news surrounding Tristan Thompson,” the statement read. “His time away from game action will have an impact on our team. We stand behind Tristan and offer our support throughout this suspension period.”
