Judge Carli Kierny has refused to release Duane “Keffe D” Davis, the man accused of orchestrating Tupac Shakur‘s murder, due to concerns about his bail source.

At a Tuesday (June 25) hearing, Judge Kierny considered arguments from prosecutors and the 61-year-old Davis. Wack 100, manager, executive producer, and entrepreneur, posted 15% of Davis’ $750,000 bail to meet the bond requirement.

Prosecutors argued that Jones intended to record interviews with Davis before and after his release, violating Kierny’s stipulation that Davis should not profit from his statements. Davis was arrested by Las Vegas Metro police on September 29, 2023, near his Henderson home.

A day before his arrest, a grand jury indicted him on a charge of murder with a deadly weapon, with a gang enhancement. Since his arrest, Davis has been held at the Clark County Detention Center. Judge Kierny stated that if Davis secured the bail amount, she would need to verify the source of the funds before granting his release.

Kierny said she would review bank statements before deciding. Davis has publicly claimed he was in the front passenger seat of the car that pulled up alongside Tupac Shakur’s vehicle before the shooting.

Shakur was in the passenger seat with Marion “Suge” Knight, the then-head of Death Row Records. As a result of the shooting, Knight sustained injuries.

Carl Arnold, Davis’ attorney, previously told local news that his client lied about Shakur’s murder. Keffe D spoke on Tupac’s murder in various interviews with popular interviewers such as DJ Vlad.

Davis’s trial is set to start in November.
