One of Young Dolph’s alleged killers, 44-year-old Hernandez Govan, has been arrested again—this time on unrelated charges. Govan, who is accused of hiring Justin Johnson and Cornelius Smith to murder the Memphis rapper, now faces charges of stalking, repeatedly following, harassing or making threats, driving with a suspended license, and having an improperly mounted license tag. WREG reports that Govan was released from Shelby County Jail on June 24 after posting a $2,250 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court for the driving violations on June 26th. He will appear again for the stalking and harassment charges on August 20th.
Earlier this year, in February, Govan was arrested for his alleged involvement in Young Dolph’s death. He was charged with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder. Shortly after, he was granted a $90,000 bond and placed under house arrest to find work to support his family. However, Govan faced criticism from Shelby County Judge J. Jennifer Mitchell for speaking to the media.
Judge Mitchell expressed her disapproval, stating, “[I] shouldn’t have to remind you that you’re out on a bond. At this point, the court feels like you’re playing, and playing fast and loose with the court and these stipulations, and I don’t like that.” She emphasized that Govan’s decision to give interviews while on house arrest was inappropriate. She added, “Whether you’re talking about this case or not, you’re doing interviews. The court doesn’t like the fact that you feel free enough to do interviews, because what could be happening is that you could be in jail.”
The District Attorney clarified that during his 28-minute YouTube interview, Govan did not discuss the case. Paul Hagerman told FOX13, “It wasn’t the smartest thing to talk from house arrest, you know, in a YouTube video, but it wasn’t anything about the case and in fact he would say no comment any time someone asked him about the case.” Hagerman explained that Govan discussed rap music, various rappers, and his deceased daughter during the interview.
