Young Thug shared an empowering message with law students through a FaceTime call with his lawyer earlier this week. The rapper’s protracted RICO trial reverberated through the hip-hop community, marking it as the longest-running RICO case in Atlanta’s history. Nonetheless, Thug was released from prison on October 31st after accepting a plea deal which granted him 15 years of probation.

According to reports, Judge Paige Reese Whitaker stipulated that, as part of his community service requirements, he must address students. During a visit to Emory University School of Law this week, Steel connected with Thug via FaceTime, where the recently released rapper commended the students for their professional ambitions.

Thug stated, “You gotta always look at it like they’re there to put us in prison and you guys are here to keep us from prison. Brian Steel is the best person possible.” “He should be a professor. You guys should become lawyers. I think it’s very important to help people out of the situations they’re in the best you can. I mean, what side do you want to be on? You want to put people in prison for mistakes? Because everybody makes mistakes, they’re human.”

He continued, “And everybody on this phone, in this classroom, you always need to know that you’re one mistake away. I feel like we need more people like Brian Steel on this earth and less people like that. So I think it’s very, very, very important to be a lawyer over anything. Lawyers and doctors are the two greatest things that were ever founded. You actually help people. That’s doing the real God work. I think every one of you in the classroom should become lawyers for sure. Anything you need from me, I’m here always. We need y’all.”

Young Thug’s Probation Terms Clarified After T.I. Collaboration Sparks Rumors

In a separate development, Thug teamed up with T.I. earlier this week for a recording session, sparking rumors that he might have breached his probation so soon after being released, due to Tip’s felony conviction. However, legal expert Meghann Cuniff clarified on X that the conditions of Thug’s release do not prohibit contact with felons, only with “members or associates of a street gang.” Cunif outlined his probation terms, which point to distancing “persons or places of disreputable or harmful character.” She said, “Young Thug’s probation does not prohibit him from being around convicted felons, only ‘members or associates of a criminal street gang’ who aren’t immediate family members.”

One of Thug’s supporters then asked for a deeper explanation of his terms. Cunif responded with, “Avoid persons or places of disreputable or harmful character.” “Really vague and underscores how the plea might have been a really bad idea, given what he ended up getting. Whitaker made it so the state can easily revoke the ‘for lawful music purposes’ exception.”
