Young Thug’s father, Jeffrey Williams Sr., has openly criticized Atlanta-based artists who, he claims, failed to support his son during his time in jail. On the Nothing But the Truth Podcast, Williams Sr. expressed frustration with artists who ignored his son’s legal challenges following his arrest on RICO charges, only to seek his attention now that he’s out.
“We got all these rappers and everybody trying to find Young Thug. They wanna talk to Young Thug, they wanna this, that and the other. Where your ass been for 29 months?” he questioned. Williams Sr. didn’t hold back, addressing the lack of protest from Atlanta’s influential music figures. “Y’all are the ones considered to be the influencers. Ain’t influencing shit.”
Williams Sr. continued, taking issue with those using his son’s name for publicity. “Now, you want to talk to him. You want to goddamn put out these monkey-a*s videos. All this, for your personal gain. It’s just for your personal gain. Your personal hype. Trying to make yourself relevant.”
He also recounted an incident where he asked a prominent Atlanta artist for support on a YSL-related event, only to be brushed off. He recalled being told, “Let me get with my people and see if I can do that,” yet later saw the artist posing alongside Young Thug.
Speculation around these comments has linked them to T.I., who recently posted photos with Thugger shortly after his release.
Williams Sr. also expressed anger over specific probation conditions included in Young Thug’s plea deal, particularly the ban on residing in Metro Atlanta. “I’m totally against that, because this is where he’s from,” he told local news. “To see her take the man away from where he’s from, to have to go live somewhere else, that’s offensive to me. I’m really offended by that.”
