This year’s annual Hot 97’s Summer Jam concert celebrated the 30th anniversary of Hip-Hop greatness.
On Sunday (June 2), the sold-out UBS Arena was treated to surprise guests, a beloved tribute, and back-to-back spectacular performances from New York hip hop’s past, present, and future. Surrounding New York’s finest collective were exciting headlining performances by Sexyy Red, Gunna, and Doja Cat.
From honoring the legendary Mister Cee to Method Man, Redman, and Busta Rhymes reminding us of their show-stealing performances to Davido bringing Lagos to Elmont, as concertgoers flooded social media with comments and reactions. “Davido’s performance was electrifying .. he carried the show,“ commented a YouTube user on the Hot 97 recap video.
Doja Cat’s headlining set, which included performances of her signature hits such as “Paint The Town Red” and “Ain’t Sh*t,” received rave reviews across social media. “She puts on a show, just wish her set was longer :(,” commented @ncol3tte on Instagram.
@iamgee.btw wrote with heart and fire emoji, “When I tell you THIS WOMAN ATE AND LEFT NO CRUMBSSS.”

“Only reason I went was for a boogie,” commented @nybdiam0nd.
X user @TechandMusicFan thinks it’s time for the concert to expand to a multi-day event, tweeting, “I think that it’s time for @HOT97 to split #SummerJam into a 2-day event. Have the Legacy Hip Hop events on one night and all the new music on the other. That way the fan base can choose to see artists that they relate to. Rakim should never be on the same stage as Lola Brooke.”
“That audience loud as hell… oh godja,” tweeted @goftue on X.
“Good vibes,” commented @BigBreezy29 at the end of the evening on X.
@DojaCat can never disappoint,” tweeted @ExecutiveMedia. “She sold out and rocked a new audience, expanding her impact. Congratulations Amala. @HOT97 and @UBSArena, thank you for trusting Doja Cat and giving her such a platform. See you all next time!”
Rest in Peace, Mister Cee.
