Summer Jam has showcased the most significant moments in hip-hop, including reunions, anniversaries, surprises, and much more. One of the most memorable moments of the annual concert was when Nicki Minaj brought out Lil Wayne and Drake during her 2014 set.
Collectively known as the three-headed goat, the trio were the biggest names in hip-hop at the time. At MetLife Stadium, Lil Wayne, Drake, and Nicki Minaj performed their hit collaborations such as “Believe Me,” “Trophies,” and “Lookin’ Ass.” YMCMB came out to support the three.
6God and Queen of the Barbz were a part of the original Young Money Entertainment roster under a label deal Lil Wayne secured with Cash Money and Universal in 2005. As the label’s top performers, Nicki and Drake sustained the label while Wayne was in jail from 2007 to 2008.
In 2014, Drizzy and Minaj competed for the title of the biggest stars in hip-hop, both releasing chart-topping albums: The Pinkprint and Nothing Was The Same. Lil Wayne was still heavily regarded as the best rapper alive, and fans patiently awaited The Carter V, which didn’t arrive until 2018.
All three stars still dominate the music scene with new albums and tours in 2024. Nicki is on the record-breaking Pink Friday 2 world tour and has recently announced plans to extend it into 2025.
Lil Wayne headlined the inaugural TwoGether Land Festival in Dallas, Texas, over the weekend. Wayne just finished touring with Drake, who also toured with J. Cole this year.
Sexyy Red, an Onika co-sign, will perform at this year’s Summer Jam. The St. Louis rap star released a new EP last Friday that features a new collaboration with Drake.
Drake raps over the viral “BBL Drizzy” instrumental produced by his rival Metro Boomin’.
Hot 97 celebrates Summer Jam’s 30th anniversary on June 2 at the UBS Stadium. Hosted by Hot 97’s Ebro, Peter Rosenberg, Laura Stylez, and Nessa. Tickets are on sale now via Ticketmaster.
